So last night the college ministry went to the University of Houston for a prayer walk. We got to see almost the entire campus and man, is it massive! The reason for prayer walking was to ask God to open the minds and hearts of the students there as we attempt to bring our ministry to them. We’ve been talking about this for a few weeks and I remember one of the people who actually goes there saying that there have been several other “ministries” I guess, that have come on campus looking to  beat people over the heads with the Gospel. I find that really unfortunate. That is probably gonna make it even harder for us to really penitrate the hearts of non-christian students there. It’s like each time some ignorant bible-beater tries to reach someone, their heart gets a little more callosed and guarded. Not to say that this type of strategy has never done any good because God can work through even the stupidest of attempts, but it certainly is the least appealing or effective approach and it certainly can make it a bit more difficult for us who are trying to live out the gospel and show people God’s love rather than His vengeance. Lucky for us God is totally in this. I feel pretty good about our prospects there.  I look forward to the interesting conversations that will spring from this experience and to what God will do through us.

I leave for preteen camp on monday and I still have color shopping, t-shirt making, a camp dance to pull together, and a song to write. AND I leave the day after I get back from preteen camp for JH/HS camp and I’m not even sure if I’m the same color for Junior High or who my students/co-leader will be!

EEK,
